Each grade level (6, 7, 8) is divided further into individual COREs. Each CORE consists of teams of students and teachers. The CORE group learns the subject areas of math, science, social studies, and language arts during a block of time each day.
•Students experience quality instructional time in their CORE which creates a smaller community within the school. Students are assigned to a CORE for the duration of their grade-year. There are no cross-grade COREs at Euclid.
Core Requests - Student Learning Profile Form- - This optional form is made available to all EMS students and parents. In order to make quality decisions, it is our desire to gather as much educational information as possible. A "Student Learning Profile" Form is inserted in the spring Falcon Flyer to allow parents to express specific concerns for the placement of their child in the fall.
•All EMS COREs are mixed when assigning the student population. It is critical that we maintain a balance of male/female and Gifted/Talented and Special Education students. Our programming structure allows for appropriate math placement, providing for challenge, grade level, and basic skills curriculum in all COREs. It is not possible for EMS to honor parent requests for specific teachers or COREs, but parents may make general requests for an environment that focuses more on one area than another. (For instance: "My child needs to be in a CORE where reading is emphasized.")
•
The process for placing your child is very comprehensive and personalized. Whether or not this Student Learning Profile is completed, all students at EMS are personally placed.
•We have the greatest confidence that any CORE at EMS can meet the needs of your child. All students will be notified of their CORE placement during schedule pick-up in August.
